Cookies

One cookie. Only if you say yes.

We measure which pages get read, so we know what to write next. That needs a single first-party cookie. Decline and nothing is stored, nothing is sent.

What is set

NamePurposeSet whenLifetime
btl_consentRemembers your choiceAfter you click Allow or Decline180 days
btl_idRandom id so repeat visits are not counted as new readersOnly if you click Allow180 days

Both are first-party. They are not shared, not synced and not used for advertising. There is no Google Analytics, no pixel, no fingerprinting.

What is measured

A page view event carries: the path, the referring domain (not the full URL), a rounded screen width, and the first eight characters of the random id. No IP address is stored by us, no keystrokes, no scroll depth, no session recording.

Declining

If you decline, btl_consent=0 is stored so the banner stays away. That cookie is strictly necessary to honour your choice. Nothing else is set and no measurement event is sent.

Withdrawing

Clear the cookies for this site in your browser and the banner appears again. Choose Decline and you are done.

Legal basis

Consent under Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. The consent record is the cookie itself; there is no server-side profile of you.

Delivery network

The site runs behind Cloudflare. During an attack or bot challenge Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie (__cf_bm) that expires within minutes and carries no profile.
